At Moose Jaw Property Inspection we perform a Furnace Inspection as part of our Full House Inspection. Our furnace inspection involves:
- Identify the furnace, and note the serial number, age and input BTUs.
- Examine the exterior of the furnace for rust, corrosion, soot etc.
- Inspect and clean the blower motor, wheel and housing.
- Check combustion blower for any obstructions and lint.
- In gas furnaces we inspect for any gas leaks. Use a gas sniffer on all visible gas lines joints and connections.
- Inspect the condensate lines and pan
- Check evaporator coil.
- Inspect burner and clean if necessary.
- Check safety controls and ignition.
- Perform a complete inspection of the heat exchanger and/or heat elements.
- Check the flue system ensuring good connections. Inspect for corrosion.
- Check all electrical systems including control box, wiring and connections.
- Inspect air filtersand replace as needed.
- Check ductwork for any leaks.
- Review system start up for errors.
- Listen for sounds that may indicate a furnace issue.
- Detect any unusual odours and search for source.
- Note the color and condition of the flame for a proper burn.
- Review air conditioning and heat pumps while HVAC system is running.
- Inspect vent system while furnace is operating.
- While the unit is running, check for air delivery in the rooms.
- Complete an overall inspection of the ductwork.
